Laude may seem simple at first (create nodes, write notes), but it has layers of functionality that make it the most powerful study space that exists.

This guide takes you from zero to expert in 10 minutes.

1. The basics: Nodes and hierarchy

A node is your content unit. It can be:

  • Class notes
  • Chapter summary
  • Study guide for an exam
  • Research project

Nodes can have sub-nodes (child pages), creating a hierarchy:

📚 Calculus 2
  ├─ 📐 Integrals
  ├─ 📊 Partial derivatives
  └─ 🔢 Infinite series

Pro tip: Organize by subject at the top level, and by topic in sub-nodes.

2. The editor: More than text

Laude's editor is not a Word document. It's a canvas where you combine multiple types of content.

Essential blocks

AI blocks

BlockWhat it does
SummaryPaste long text → AI generates concise summary
FlashcardsContent → AI creates Q&A cards
ExamsTopic → AI generates complete test
Voice TutorNode content → Live AI conversation

Interactive blocks

BlockBest for
ChartData graphs (bar, line, pie)
MermaidFlowcharts, mind maps, timelines
ToggleHide/show sections for cleaner notes
TabsGroup related content side-by-side

Use / in the editor to see all available blocks.

3. Rensei: Your mastery system

Activate Rensei on a node and transform your passive study into continuous evaluation.

Typical flow:

  1. Create node with notes on "Differential Equations"
  2. Activate Rensei (toggle in top bar)
  3. AI extracts concepts: "First-order equations", "Separation of variables", "Integrating factor"...
  4. Complete exams or flashcards
  5. Rensei updates your mastery of each concept (0-100%)
  6. Dashboard shows you what you need to review

The power of Rensei: You don't study everything again, only what you really need.

4. Knowledge Graph: Visualize connections

The knowledge graph shows how your nodes relate.

  • Nodes are circles (color and size based on activity)
  • Links are the connections you create
  • Click on a node to navigate it
  • Zoom in/out to see different levels

Create links: Select text in any node, type [[ and search for the node you want to link to.

Pro tip: The graph helps you see the "big picture" of your subject. Useful before final exams.

5. Marketplace: Never start from scratch

Need Cell Biology notes? Someone probably already made them.

  1. Go to /market
  2. Search "Cell Biology"
  3. Review results (sorted by popularity and relevance)
  4. Copy the one you like
  5. Customize it to your style

Golden rule: Always customize copied content. Don't just copy and leave. Adding your own notes, examples, and exercises is what makes the content yours.

6. Widgets and advanced blocks

Theater Mode

For YouTube videos: hides distracting recommendations and comments. Just you and the video.

Drawing Block

Draw diagrams, formulas by hand, or explain visually. Perfect for math or science.

Module Block

Sections with access restrictions. Useful if you share nodes with classmates but some parts are just for you.

PDF Block

Integrate PDFs directly into your node. Mark important pages.

7. Organization: Folders and favorites

  • Folders: Group nodes by semester, project, or type
  • Favorites: Mark nodes you consult frequently
  • Archive: Hide old nodes without deleting them

8. Collaboration

Share nodes (private)

Share a specific node with classmates via email. They can view or edit (you decide the permission).

Publish (public)

Publish to the Marketplace so anyone in the world can see and copy it.

Classroom (coming soon)

Teachers can create courses, assign tasks, and see their students' progress.

9. Essential shortcuts

  • / - Block menu
  • [[ - Create link to another node
  • Ctrl + K - Quick search
  • Ctrl + / - Open AI assistant
  • Ctrl + E - Generate content with AI

10. The complete flow

Before class:

  • Create node for the day's topic
  • Copy structure from Marketplace if it exists

During class:

  • Take notes in the node
  • Insert diagrams, images, relevant videos

After class:

  • Generate a Summary block of the content
  • Activate Rensei
  • Create flashcards with AI

Before exam:

  • Review Rensei Dashboard
  • Focus on concepts with low mastery
  • Practice with AI-generated exams
  • Voice Tutor session to review

Result: Real mastery, not temporary memorization.

Conclusion

Laude is not just a note-taking app. It's a complete learning system that combines organization, AI, continuous evaluation, and community.

The learning curve is short. The advantage over other methods is huge.
