Cookie Policy
public.legal.lastUpdated: May 31, 2026
Please read this Cookie Policy carefully as it contains important information about who we are and how we use cookies on our Services. This policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which sets out how to contact us, what data we collect and how we use it more broadly.
What Is a Cookie?
A cookie is a small text file placed onto your device (e.g. your computer, smartphone or tablet) when you use our Services. Cookies help us to recognise you and your device and allow us to store information about your preferences or past actions — for example, keeping you logged in as you navigate the platform or remembering your language preference.
For further information on cookies generally, including how to control and manage them, visit the guidance published by the UK Information Commissioner's Office, www.aboutcookies.org or www.allaboutcookies.org.
Consent to Use Cookies
We will ask for your consent to place cookies or similar technologies on your device, except where they are essential for us to provide a service you have requested — for example, to keep you logged in as you use the platform.
You can withdraw consent or manage your cookie preferences at any time via your browser settings. Please note that disabling certain cookies may affect the functionality of the Services — in particular, disabling essential cookies will prevent you from remaining logged in.
Cookies We Use
The table below lists all cookies we use, what they do and whether they are essential:
| Name | Purpose | Essential? | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
next-auth.session-token__Secure-next-auth.session-token | Keeps you logged in to Laude as you navigate the platform. This is a database-backed session token — the plain variant is used in development, the __Secure- prefixed variant in production (HTTPS). No personally identifiable information is stored in the cookie itself; it is an opaque reference to your session in our database. | Yes — essential | 30 days |
locale | Remembers your language preference (English or Spanish) so you see Laude in the right language each time you visit. Set on your first visit based on your browser's language settings and updated whenever you change your language in the app. | Yes — essential | 365 days |
creator_refresh_token | Securely stores a refresh token for Creator Portal authentication. This cookie is httpOnly (not accessible to JavaScript), uses SameSite=Strict and is scoped exclusively to /api/creator/auth — it is never sent with other requests. | Yes — essential | 30 days |
referral_code | Stores a referral code from a sign-up link (e.g. /register?ref=CODE) so that referral rewards can be attributed correctly when you create your account. The cookie is httpOnly and expires after 7 days. It is only set if you arrive via a referral link. | No — functional | 7 days |
How to Turn Off All Cookies
If you do not want to accept any cookies, you may change your browser settings to block or delete them. Please be aware that if you do this:
- you will not be able to remain logged in to Laude;
- your language preference will not be remembered between visits;
- some other functionality of the Services may be affected.
